Gender-affirming therapy
Gender-affirming therapy for transgender and nonbinary adults
Support for you, your relationships, and the people who want to understand.
Request a free 15-minute consultYou shouldn’t have to explain or defend your identity before you can talk about your life. We can work on gender, relationships, sex, or whatever else you bring.
You don’t need a particular label or a clear destination to begin, and gender doesn’t have to be the focus of every session. Partners and adult family members can find individual support here, too.
If you’re trans or questioning
You are the authority on your own gender. Therapy gives you time to think, ask questions, and make decisions, and there is no answer you’re supposed to reach.
- Exploring your identity and what you want to do next
- Coming out, disclosure, and deciding what feels safe
- Relationships, sex, and changes in how you experience your body
- Work, family, and other people’s expectations
- Stress, joy, uncertainty, and the rest of your life
You can be certain about your identity and need support with something difficult, or you can still be figuring things out.
If your partner is trans or questioning
You may want to support your partner while also having questions about attraction, intimacy, identity, or your future together. You can take those questions seriously while respecting who your partner is.
In individual sessions, we can talk through what you’re feeling, get ready for honest conversations, and think about what you need as the relationship changes.
If you’re a parent or adult family member
You may be looking for a place to ask questions, understand unfamiliar language, or work through feelings before discussing them with someone you love.
We can work on listening, keeping communication open, handling family conversations, and getting the information you need to be a support. I’m an affirming therapist. I take your family member’s identity as a given, and I take your feelings about the change seriously too.
These sessions are for adult family members. I see adults only, not children or teens.
What our work can look like
A session might be spent getting ready for a conversation, thinking through a boundary, or sorting out how you feel about a change in a relationship. We decide together what to focus on.
Training
I hold a certificate in Affirmative Therapy for Transgender Communities from Widener University, a yearlong clinical program, and I’m a PhD student in Human Sexuality, Sex Therapy Track, there.
Letters for gender-affirming medical care
I also offer assessments and letters of support as a standalone service. Ongoing therapy is not required. Learn about the letter process.
